Evacuation orders lifted as crews contain fire east of East Camden
The Bunker Fire is burning east of East Camden in Calhoun County in timber and southern rough fuels. Over the last 72 hours, suppression crews successfully secured containment lines as fire behavior diminished to minimal backing and flanking. The fire no longer threatens surrounding residential communities or industrial infrastructure.
Evacuations and Closures
- All evacuation orders for residents and industrial facility workers were lifted on September 22.
Impact
No structural damage or injuries have been reported around the Highland Industrial Park complex.
Conditions and Outlook
Northeast winds are expected to ease gradually through the remainder of the week under dry skies with little chance of rain. Fire behavior is anticipated to remain minimal as lines hold and personnel patrol the perimeter.
Cause and Context
The cause of the fire remains undetermined as of September 19. Containment efforts were assisted by multi-state National Guard aviation support from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi.
