Bouquet Fire Report — October 6, 2026
All evacuation orders lifted as crews cool hot spots in Bouquet Canyon
The Bouquet Fire is burning in steep chaparral terrain south of Bouquet Reservoir near Saugus in the Angeles National Forest. After early wind-driven growth, fire activity has calmed to smoldering and isolated interior torching as crews use thermal drone data to target remaining heat pockets. All evacuation orders have been lifted, and the fire is no longer actively threatening nearby communities.
Evacuations and Closures
- All evacuation orders and evacuation warnings were lifted on October 6.
- Bouquet Canyon Road remains closed from Spunky Canyon Road to milepost 5.7 as of October 6.
- Forest Service roads within the fire perimeter, including Saugus del Sur (6N18) and Quarry Road (6N19), remain closed as of October 6.
- Recreational closures for the Drinkwater and Rowher Flat Off-Highway Vehicle areas were lifted on October 6.
Impact
Firefighters successfully kept flames away from mountain cabins in Bouquet Canyon, and no structure damage has been reported. Wildfire smoke created degraded air quality across the Santa Clarita Valley, the Interstate 5 corridor, and the Angeles National Forest.
Conditions and Outlook
Warm and dry conditions will continue across the area through the end of the week with no chance of rainfall. Light to moderate winds from the north-northeast will shift to the southwest by late week. Fire behavior is expected to remain minimal as ground crews and helicopters continue mop-up and patrol operations along containment lines.
Cause and Context
The cause remains under investigation, though investigators stated on October 5 that the fire may have been human-caused after discovering suspected fireworks or explosive ordnance near the ignition area. Rapid initial spread was fueled by heavy, overgrown brush that had not burned in several decades.
Official updates current through October 6, 2026.
