Crews secure southern flank while mopping up northern hotspots
The Rafter 4B Fire is burning southeast of Eldorado in Schleicher County near Farm to Market 2596 and County Roads 220 and 224. After rapid wind-driven spread through brush and timber threatened ranches and a pipeline, firefighters stabilized the southern perimeter and built lines along both flanks. Crews are focusing on mopping up active hotspots along the northern edge to protect nearby values at risk.

- No evacuation orders or road closures are in effect as of September 28.
Conditions and Outlook
South to south-southeast winds will strengthen with increasing gusts before shifting north-northeasterly alongside a high chance of thunderstorms and rain at midweek. Firefighters plan to construct and reinforce containment lines while patrolling and extinguishing smoldering hotspots along the northern edge.
