Fire creeps through McFaddin Refuge brush with no evacuations in effect
The Star Lake Fire is burning in brush and grass within the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson County, southeast of Stowell. Over the last 72 hours, the fire has shown moderate behavior, creeping, backing, and smoldering across the marshland. No communities or structures are currently reported threatened.

Conditions and Outlook
Winds will remain predominantly out of the south to southeast over the next few days, easing slightly before shifting east-southeasterly with occasional breezy periods. Humid coastal conditions will persist, with chances of rain showers increasing toward midweek. Fire behavior is expected to remain moderate as it creeps and smolders through refuge vegetation.
