Lines hold as crews transition to suppression repair and mop-up

The Hagen Fire is burning in the Umatilla National Forest east of Pendleton, Oregon. Over the last 72 hours, fire activity remained minimal and perimeter lines held securely with burning confined to smoldering interior timber. The fire poses no immediate threat to nearby communities, and operational priorities have shifted toward suppression repair.

Evacuations and Closures

• Level 1 'Be Ready' evacuation warnings remain active for zone UMC-157-A south of Oregon Highway 204 near Cold Springs between Mileposts 12 and 15, and Union County zones UCO-1450 and UCO-1435 (as of September 7).
• Umatilla National Forest area, road, and trail closures remain in place due to falling hazard trees, compromised roadbeds, and heavy machinery operations (as of September 8).
• A Temporary Flight Restriction is in effect over the incident area (as of September 9).

No structural damage or injuries have been reported. Smoke may be visible in nearby communities during warmer afternoons, and fire-weakened trees and damaged roadbeds continue to create hazards within the burned area.

Fire behavior is expected to stay minimal with smoldering in heavy dead fuels. The fire was ignited by lightning on July 16, 2026, in the Umatilla National Forest. Fire managers are managing operations in coordination with the nearby Paradise Fire.
