Sycan Fire Report — September 14, 2026
Crews secure perimeter lines near Sycan Marsh as fire activity moderates
The Sycan Fire is burning northwest of Sycan Marsh and southwest of Summer Lake in Lake County. After initial wind-driven spread through grass, brush, and timber, fire activity moderated to smoldering and creeping as crews secured perimeter lines. No communities or structures are currently threatened.
Evacuations and Closures
- No evacuation orders, warnings, or road closures are in effect for Lake County (as of September 12).
Impact
Although structures and energy infrastructure in the area were initially threatened, no damage or losses have been reported, and no injuries have occurred.
Conditions and Outlook
Northerly winds are forecast to become gusty from the north-northwest before shifting to the northeast with improving humidity and a chance of light drizzle toward midweek. Fire behavior is expected to remain minimal with smoldering fuels inside the perimeter. Firefighters will continue mopping up remaining hot spots and reinforcing established control lines.
Cause and Context
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The incident is managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry Lake Unit under a Type 3 command structure.
